Why Does So Many College Educated African Americans Have Such A Hard Time Finding A Job?
As a college graduate of a diverse University I could not help but notice that almost all of my friends found jobs immediately that were White, Asian and even Hispanic but my African American friends all had and are still having the hardest time finding employment. My really close friend is a extremely bright individual but she can’t even get a job in a mall making minimum wage. All of my friends of other races found jobs immediately. I have friends that are black that have been unemployed for about a year out of college and are actively seeking employment and still can not find a job. We all live in the Southern California area so that may have something to do with it.

Loose Wheel- As a latino/white mixed person, its sad to say that while others MUST speak english, all the hispanic spanish-speaking is favored and catered to in America. There’s no reason they can’t learn english. We (hispanics) are favored because of the language diversity, but we definitely AREN’T favored, since many of us hispanics are already white and most of us have white in us (hispanic is not a race).
As for you (the questioner), its likely the area, because where I’m at, its extremely diverse, many Filipinos, Africans/Black Islanders, and Indians work at my place (the hospital). You may want to consider moving to another area before you judge the entire state.

I work for a Staffing Service, we send out people to work on a daily baisis, I dont consider my self to be racist, but African Americans are and have showed to be super lazy, they want the high paying jobs and dont want to work. Why is it that when theres a conversation of this matter African American/Jobs/Lazy are always the main topic. Well theres your answer and I see this happening every day.

It could be their field of study, the area they’re in, or whatever, cause some places may not have a need for a job, while some places do. Right now I know that there aren’t a lot of open jobs in SoCal, just cause it’s so overcrowded. Try NorCal?

Okay, this is just my opinion, but I think it has something to do with Hispanics being the new favored minority in the US. As long as companies hire Hispanics they can say that they are ‘diverse’.

Thats true! Its cuz ppl think that African Americans can’t handle a job and think that they are lazy in there jobs, but let me tell you it only depends of what type of person u r not of race:)

Hmmm…….most all my friends who have finished school got jobs right away.
Could it be you have a degree in field that is already full. Switch to education-its wide open on all levels.

Have they had a job before and were not dependable? Perhaps it’s a lack of experience if that’s not the case.
