It is great b/c it is so convenient. You have much more flexability and can work at your own pace (within reason) when you take online classes

Most folks choose online because it is more convenient to get classes while still working a full time job. The price can be steeper, but well worth it for someone in your situation. Beware of non-accredited online schools though and check that their programs are legit before you register and give them money. Generally, places that can offer federal financial aid are those that are fairly well accredited, but that is not a hard and fast rule so do your research. Good luck with college!

they might learn better online?

I believe that the main reason would be the convenience, especially for working adult. In Singapore, if I am to do a part time degree (I did a graduate diploma from a local private open uni) – it will typically require the student (who also holds a day job) to travel to school 3 times a week. Imagine the time lost due to travelling. The student will be rather tired after a days’ work, hence may not be in the best condition to participate or concentrate while in class. I personally did some short courses via online, and I found the learning more meaningful. But take note – online learning is still not widely accepted by employers, at least in Asia.
