When Choosing Majors In College, Is It Better To Choose A Major And Minor That Are Compatible To Each Other?

Better is an opinion. I can’t tell you what’s better for you.
But, if you do something like Biology with a Zoology minor, you’d probably have alot of overlapping classes that you could get your minor with only a few extra classes if you plan right from the get go. But, if you do something like Math and Theatre, you may need alot more extra classes to make it work – depending on what you did for your general education.
It’s certainly doable – I know someone who double majored in Bio and Music, but it took an extra year of full-time schooling (5 years instead of 4).

Go with what works for you, if you pick a minor you aren’t really interested in you are not going to want to work in that field anyway so are wasting your time and money.

Go where the money is and what you think you will enjoy doing with both. Being Compatible can be beneficial.

Nah, you could major in something like Biology and still minor in something as opposite as Theatre– it just means your electives will have to be used wisely and extremely focused. In fact, I’d recommend varied majors and minors– it shows graduate schools and prospective employees that you’re a well rounded individual.

whatever floats your boat. pick the two that interests you. that would be the best answer. but by taking both that are compatible of course would be the best. so that way you can relate it to each other. and not be confused in any materials.

Find what interests you most. Statistically, you will not work in the field you graduated in – so study what gets you motivated and excited so that you will do well. The skills you learn in doing research, writing papers and solving problems are useful in any job you pursue.

choose whatever interests you. I’m majoring in Psych, and I’m probably going to minor in something like Public Health, or maybe Math to be more competitive for a grad program I’m interested in.

It’s hard to say whether a major and a minor you choose will fit together, as I know of many people that have combined two programs that seem completely separate from each other and have made them work. If you can find a way to do this, you will look much more unique than someone with two similar programs.
