When choosing a college, what were the most important characteristics of the school you chose?

College Selection
I am currently working on my master’s in special education and I am taking a research class as one of my requirements. In my class, I have to perform a qualitative research study. Above is my question and I appreciate your answers and feedback. Thanks!

Well, I want to be a teacher so I picked a school that is a historically “teacher school” in my state. I also liked it because it was small. However, there are drawbacks to this…the school is small but that also means that the town is small and there is nothing to do here on the weekends…

Very Important:
- Surroundings (look and feel of campus and surrounding town)
- Reputation (how is the college looked upon by other colleges)
- Climate (love the cold, hate the heat)
Important:
- Campus (does it have a traditional college campus? I hope so)
- Department (is the school known for my major?)
- Dining (how’s the food?)
- Housing (are the dorms jail cells or palaces?)
Considered:
- Student Body (does the school have the kind of people I mesh with?)
- Size (big has options, small has community)
- Distance (closer to home is more convenient)
