Student Discounts
I think most students have a student discount for S/W so it doesn’t make sense to purchase from vendor, right?

You might want to try Dell.com, they will build a customized computer to ensure that you have just the right stuff your looking for. There isn’t one “Best Laptop” because every students needs are different. You might want to contact the IT department of the school you are going to be going to before purchasing any software, some schools have license agreements between companies. The school I attended had an agreement with Microsoft so students could download Office, XP, etc. for FREE! So I think before you purchase anything check with your school, they might also offer laptop packages at a student discount. So my advice would be to check with your school, talk to other students with laptops and see what worked for them, if nothing seems to be working out in those areas go to a electronics or PC store in your area and talk to an expert… they will help you get the right H/W, S/W to fit your needs. Good Luck!
