It’s definitely more convenient to get a job working on campus. You’ll probably be paid more, you won’t have to travel to a local school, and it’s easy to get the job, because they’re always looking for people/ sympathetic to hiring students. I tutor local students, but I do it for free. I think it’s a great thing to do- the time committment isn’t too big, and frankly, it looks good, too– volunteer work. If you want to tutor, then I think you should do it on a volunteer basis- especially if you want to go into teaching or something along those lines in the future.
