College Jobs
What i mean is finding a job without the use of job search engines such as monster.com, and careerbuilder.com. They don’t help much, and they usually offer dead end jobs.

Most companies now a days have very good sections of their websites dedicated to “careers”. They will list job postings and accept your resume online.
Think of companies in a particular location that fit the work you want and visit their websites. This has worked for me on two occasions.

What degree did you earn? Look for industry trade publications and websites.
Then again, these days with the mini-baby boom of 1980-88 entering the job market and original boomers refusing or unable to retire, you might just have to deal with dead end jobs for a while

if there is a specific field you want to go into you can do a search for the companies in your area and send out blind resumes…..even if they aren’t hiring immediately they will keep your resume on file. Good luck

The internet is a great tool but still only provide a slim chance of employment. Start networking, speak to your parents, friends and family members. Most people work somewhere and the word of mouth is still the most powerful tool. When I received my first degree, I went to companies that I wanted to work with and asked them if I could do a shadow for 2 or 3 days. During this time, I found out what positions the company had open, who else was hiring and left with contact information for people in my field. You will be surprised who will offer a great position to you.

If you’re looking for a career to use your degree, take a moment and learn more about these two companies: Deloitte & Touche (http://careers.deloitte.com/gateway.aspx ) and Ernst & Young (http://www.ey.com/global/content.nsf/International/Careers ).
Get those names on your resume and you’ll be set.
These firms work with the world’s largest and most reputable companies. Get to know the industry; find the market leaders, and use the Career section on their web sites. Then, customize your resume and cover letter according to their qualifications and culture (cultural/personality fit is extremely important in today’s organziations). Avoid sending out “blind” resumes; you’re trying to stand out and make a case for why the employer should call you in for an interview.
Good luck.

The best way to find a job is networking. Let all your relatives, friends parents, neighbors etc know that you are looking for a job and ask if their company is hiring. Most people that are working know when their company is hiring and may be able to get you an interview before the position is advertised. Some may be able to give you suggestions as to where to look.
