these are some of the things i asked myself when i was choosing a major:
*could you see yourself doind this thing for a long period of time or until you get ready to retire
*does it fit your lifestyle/morals/values
*is there a demand for this major and is it competitive
*is this something you can go on and on doing all day while still enjoying it, or does it tire you out or get boring relatively quickly
*would you wake up every morning anxious about going to do your job
*would you have a sense of usefulness, pride, or enjoyment doing this
*would it make you feel accomplished
the talk of college can be an overwhelming thought, but the key is to take your time and work at your own pace. you might have friends that are quick to start working, take 5 or more classes, and join a lot of activities on campus. the thing is to not try to keep up with them. if you need time to adjust or to study, then it is okay to work at your own pace. the most important thing is that you are making the grades and staying focused. now when it comes to partying (or football/bastketball games, or programs), it is okay to go some, but be smart as to which ones you go to. if you know you have an early class or a test in the AM and you will be out all night, then just plan to go to the next one. but if you have an afternoon class that day and you have your work done, then it may be alright for you to go. don’t get discouraged if you slip up on a test or assignment, or seem unprepared. the thing is to learn from that and make wiser decisions than you did the day before. also, there are many resources and people on campus that are there to help you adjust, such as counselors, career services, mentor programs, and etc. so utilize some of those and you will be fine. don’t judge it until you experience it. things will go much better if you do that. you will be fine and good luck!!

“Will this major get me a job?”
“Is this major in demand?”
and
“Will I actually enjoy working in this field?”
The first two are easy to answer, the third one is a lot harder.
