What Are The Factors To Consider In Choosing A College Major?

College Selection
I’m good with numbers but I’m also good in writing. I’m leaning towards Accountancy but Journalism seems to be calling me too. Please help.

if you are to choose only one, you should take the one that will make you enjoy most. would you like to be called a Journalist or be with numbers? which one?

At least one year’s worth of college is the same regardless of major. I found out over the years that English, History, and Art majors often rise to the top. Companies want people with a diverse range of education and experience.
If they hired people with the same major, then you would get a lot of people with the same opinions, but nothing new to offer.

I totally agree with “dave I am”. Its the passion – what do you like ? / what do you want to do ?
Imagine being an accountant – five to six days a week. Also imagine being a writer – five to six days a weeks for the next ten years ( after completing your college work ).
Which career path would you enjoy ? then pursue this career path.
Remember when you are doing what you enjoy – its not work !
Have a nice day !

Do what you love not where you are good at, eventually what you good at will bore you, but your PASSION stays with in you.. well base on my own experience…

I would think that there would be more opportunity in Accountancy.

Go with your passion. You might be good at it but the enthusiasm, self-fulfillment and enjoyment is what matters most. I would also suggest that you attend a career orientation to give you an ideas and insights about the career that you would like to take.
