Question by Chris G: What are some easy ways to get money for college?
I need money that does not have to be paid back, and is very easy to apply for. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Talk to the college you’re interested in. There are usually 100’s of grants and scholarships that few bother to compete for and many are eligible.

Go to your friendly financial aid counselor and tell them you want to apply for as many scholarships and grants as you can get your hands on. Also, it sounds like you are on the right track about not getting student loans. Any use of this avenue should be extremely, and I mean extremely limited. The way the student loan system is set up it’s like legal loan sharking for the banking industry. Believe me, I know of what I speak!

Filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the single best thing you can go to fund college. This makes you eligible for free government grant money, as well as low-interest loans which you can choose to not accept. It’s need-based funding and the grant money is on a first come, first serve basis, so it’s best to apply early in the year.
The financial aid office at your college of choice can also provide a lot of information about available scholarships. There are hundreds that people don’t even know about or don’t apply for. http://www.fastweb.com and http://www.scholarshipexperts.com are other sources. Most scholarships you’ll find require a short essay of some kind, but I’ve known people to write a couple different general essays that they can tweak according to the scholarship prompts and then mechanically apply for everything they see.

welll best way is to go for scholarships. But these arent easy to get. Other thing is to start making money online. It is also very tough but doable.
