College Jobs
I’m graduating with a diploma in the IT field(computers) and I am debating if I should stay here, save money up and work for a year, or should I immediatly move out of state after college and find a job (find a job before I move of course). I have no experience on my resume in the IT field and I just got a job offer for help desk today and I took it but i’m curious as to how long I should work there as I want to start my life asap.

I’m facing the same issue as you. Though I have a year of college to go, and a job to find. My opinion is you shouldn’t wait for your life “to start” by defining criteria for it that makes your current situation unpleasant. I suppose you’re thinking as long as your parents are close by you won’t really have any fun (you know what I mean). I am working as a research assistant however and nobody I know lives with their parents (they’re all grad students). But usually they come in at 8 and leave at 8-9 (12 hr work day). This is a difficult decision because both involve some sacrifices and a change in perspective. I suppose since you’re graduating soon you’re in you early 20’s. What if you just waited a while until your mid-twenties to move? You’d have money, security and probably a lot of confidence since you might be doing well at your job. The other alternative seems more appealing, but it could be great deal of stress, which could lead to health problems later. Anyway, I haven’t really given you a definite answer since I’m struggling with it too. Just keep that year isn’t really that long, but you can learn a LOT in that time.

If you know where you want to live out of state and you know for sure you don’t want to stay where you are right now, then find a job where you want to live now. If you find a job now and plan on working for a year but they job turns out to be really good, you’ll find it hard to move out of state.
