Should I major in accounting? And would it be easy to find a job right out of college?

I am really confused about whether I should major in accounting because my family keeps on telling me that maybe in a couple of years now the accounting world will all be maintained by computers? I don’t want to go with my gut because I am usually wrong. So what do you think?

I doubt that computers will replace accountants. They are a tool to accountants that allow them to crunch numbers drastically faster than in the past, and create detailed reports.
While the number crunching is easier, the regulation changes are making the job tougher. Adapting to these changes and increasing regulatory requirements are the challenges facing accountants in my opinion.
Should you go into accounting? I would say you should do what you enjoy. If you like numbers, plus learning the regulations behind them, then accounting could be a good choice. If you are interested taxes and/or auditing, then working for a public accounting firm may work.
