don’t hitnk so hard about the money (though don’t takje less than 25 an hour
), thik about the help you’d b giving to be in need! i tutored for a while and it was such a rewarding experience – i helped a girl get through a very important maths exam…that was five years ago and although at first it looked like she had no chance of passing, in the end she came out with an 85%! Though she uses v little maths in her job now, having the good maths score helped her get into the college she wanted, to study what she wanted and now she has a cool job which she loves….she gave me a note to say thank you when she was accepted into the college (she needed min score of 75 to get in) and on teacher appreciation say (see http://www.teacher-appreciation.info ) she gave me a pen with my name inscribed in – it was so satisfying to know i changed someone’s future for the better….whilst earning money of course

I think it would depend upon whether you are in a four year college as opposed to a 2 year college. Of course your rate would be supported by being at a four year institution.
The factor that is most important is your experience – if you have proven yourself and your students / those you tutored have achieved success within the classroom or on standardized test / exams. A proven track record goes a long way – thus word of mouth will travel for a successful tutor who achieved positive objectives and success with the students.

yes, of course, the more impressive the resume, the higher the pay
a friend is a tutor she has 1550+ SAT and she goes to Yale.. .so that’s some pretty good credentials right there. She gets paid about 45 an hour for 3 hour sessions
friend #2 who has a 1400+ SAT, but goes to a state college, he gets paid 18 an hour for tutoring
it’s really about how well you did academically yourself, and if you’ve had experience tutoring before, then negotiating a price with the tutee
to the guy who says school doesn’t matter:
think about it, if my kid was looking for a tutor, would I hire the kid from community college? Or the guy from MIT?
There ya go.

NO….the college a student attends does not reflect the type of student he/she is or how smart they are! You should have the tutor give you a resume….also you can always increase their pay if they doing a really good job. I would say a good rate to start them out at is about 10-12 dollars an hour depending on where you’re from.

It depends upon the place, person and areas.
