Question by ..: Quitting college course and placement what do i tell them?
I am doing an NVQ level 2 in Business Admin but finding it really boring and its making me miserable I am doing 2 days a week in a office. I have decided to quit I just think its for the best and I might have something else planned anyway as I am hoping to go into Care Work. The placement have been really helpful so i feel quite bad. What do I tell them and my tutor? Can I leave straight away?

You can leave the day you say you quit. You should explain your ambitions and say you’ve learned a lot but are bored. Considering it’s coming to the end of the term anyway, can’t you stick it out for a few more months to get the qualification before doing care work? It’ll be an extra bonus on your CV.

You tell them that you have decided that Business Admin is not for you, and that you wish to quit the course. I would also thank the placement people for their help, and perhaps apologise for leaving early (optional – depends how much your leaving is likely to affect them).
However, if you are close to the end of the course, I would really think hard about staying on to the end – the extra qualification won’t hurt, and may well help you in the future.
