Q&A: ITT Tech VS. a Community College?
Question by Ross: ITT Tech VS. a Community College?
I am looking into ITT at the moment. But while doing some research I’ve come across some Good Pros but some serious Cons. My second choice would be Roan State community college located in TN.
As I understand it ITT would be more expensive and is only (NATIONALLY Accredited) but would help me in finding a career right after graduation.
RSCC is (REGIONALLY Accredited) But I have heard is a bit harder and does not give as much individual attention nor does it offer job placement.
My situation is: I didn’t do so awesome in High school but did manage to graduate. But only just. And never even took an ACT or SAT yet ITT will still accept me. BUT I have also heard that for this very reason a Degree from ITT is not as respected.
My basic question is: If my long term goal is to become a Juvenile Probation officer. (Req: BA Criminal Justice) Would it be better to go to ITT and pay a little more OR go to RSCC and risk not getting to Individual attention as in Tutoring etc… that I know I will need seeing as I am horrendous in math?
Please help, any advice, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do not, under any circumstance, go to ITT Tech. They are a complete and utter ripoff. There will be no real job placement, as employers will look at your degree and laugh. They will get you into debt and screw you over in the long run.
Yes, it would be easier. That is because they will not fail you. Failing means that they wont be getting your money anymore. So they will just push you along, regardless of your skill level. And that is the reason why you will NOT get a good job. Employers know that the students from ITT Tech did not get a real education.
Please, please go to community college. You will regret going to ITT. Every school will have people there to help you if you get in trouble. Do not worry about that. The professors at the community college expect more from you, and therefore will be more willing to help you out.

For a degree in Criminal Justice, I think a state university would be more respected by potential employers. I would suggest Roan State and then transferring to a state university.
The reason ITT is nationally accredited is because that is the type of college it is. You will find most universities are regionally accredited.

ITT Tech is a scam. You will be left with a bogus degree and thousands of dollars in debt.
