Q&A: Is it going to be hard for me to find a job after college?
Question by Sara: Is it going to be hard for me to find a job after college?
…if I go to a college that accepts 74% of applicants? My highschool grades were terrible – I just didn’t bother attending. Now that I’ve grown up over the past few years, I’ve realized how important an education is and really want to go to college. My top choice for a school (due to the programs they offer) admits 74% of it’s applicants, and that is really quite a lot…
So, even if I graduate with a high GPA, are employers going to think less of me because I attended a college that really, most people could get into?

It all depends on the program. The college I want to go to accepts 70%. I want to attend University of Hawaii – Manoa as a Korean major. It is the best program for any type of Asian studies in the country. It’s international business program is 13th in the country. It all depends on the program.

No. If you focus and do well, and you make sure to multi-task so you can put a lot on a resume (ex: student activities, clubs, community service, part-time jobs) then you’ll be able to get a job, no problem. Students with degrees who need jobs are plentiful, so you just need to work hard at making yourself stand out. Also, work on your interview skills, first impressions ALWAYS matter.
