Q&A: How to do better in college?
Question by Confused: How to do better in college?
Okay I’ve been in college for a while and I still feel as if I’m always behind. I’m always doing homework late and I find myself taking some classes over because of a bad grade or I just don’t feel like I’ve learned anything from the class. I’m always in tutoring or on yahoo answers finding out questions. I’m on youtube alot for chemistry.
Another problem is that I took Intro. to chemistry in high school and I took chemistry last year and flunked it and I decided to take it again this year with another teacher and I’m really behind because I had to relearn everything from Intro. Chem.
Can anyone PLEASE give me some tips so I dont flunk all my classes. I’m already behind and its mid semester.

First and foremost, I would take advantage of your prof’s office hours. The tutoring you’re receiving may or may not be appropriate to the class, depending on if that person has taken this specific prof’s course before–every instructor operates differently. Always go to your professor with questions, most all of them are willing to help you out.
If you are really having a difficult time in a specific subject and you find yourself failing it more than once, you might look for alternative classes to take. You mentioned chemistry specifically, but not if it is for a general science requirement or for your major. If it’s a general requirement, try to look for a different course that will take care of that credit (for example, I took a meteorology course for my scientific method credit, and a computer class for natural sciences. I’m with you, not a big chemistry person! But that’s just my school’s allocation. Yours could be very different).
If it is for your major, best I can tell you is to study your butt off. If you are required to take it to get your degree, clearly it will be something you will need in your future career, so it is essential that you understand the subject matter.
I hope that helps somewhat.
