College money for soldiers can be shared?

Question by Britt: College money for soldiers can be shared?
Alright, so I have a friend who’s a military police in the army, and he really has no intention of going to college. He asked me if I wanted his college money from the government, because he wasn’t going to college and said that it was only to be used on tuition. Is that possible? I got to say I really doubt it.

Answer by altaira_3
I don’t think so. He has to be the one attending school. And I’m pretty sure in order to get it, he has to prove to the army that he’s actually enrolled and taking classes. So, unless you took classes under his name, no. Besides, it’s impossible nowadays to take classes under someone elses name. They usually check IDs before tests and stuff and you wouldn’t be the one that would end up with the diploma, he would.

Q&A: How did you choose your college major/career??????

Question by 80’s Baby: How did you choose your college major/career??????
I really dont want to have an undecided major but i dont know what career path i to choose!

Is there some kind of online test/quiz that ask your what your interest and strenghts are to determine a career that suits you???

Best answer:

Answer by Beth
There is something lots better than one of those online quizzes that finish by trying to sell you something–a career counselor. They have them at high schools and colleges. Ask to talk to one about that.

The best advice I got on career paths was to figure out what I loved doing and then finding a way to make it be my career.

Q&A: What will happen to scholarship money that is left over from college tuition?

Question by John: What will happen to scholarship money that is left over from college tuition?
I am getting ready to enter college and I have a state-funded scholarship that pays for my tuition at a state college (Louisiana’s TOPS Program). However, I have many other things to pay such as books, housing (off-campus), and electricity bills, meals, gas, clothes, entertainment, etc. My question is this: If I get additional scholarships, will I be able to use that money to pay for what I chose? Does my college regulate that money, or can I use it to pay rent or bills? Do I receive the money or does my college receive it? What happens to scholarship money once college tuition is paid?

Best answer:

Answer by dawncs
It really depends on the terms of the scholarship you have received. Some will actually allow the college to give you the remainder amount in the form of a check while other scholarships will be applied to future college tuition bills. The best option is to complete the FAFSA form because it will tap into need based financial aid including the work study program. I have included some websites below containing great information. Good luck!

Should I college graduate work at Starbucks? At a restaurant?

Question by A B: Should I college graduate work at Starbucks? At a restaurant?
Here’s my situation: I’m 22 and graduated from a reputable college a few months ago. Now I’m living at home and in the process of applying to medical school. I regret not making many friends in college, because now I’m stuck at home by myself, sad and lonely. I found a job as an SAT tutor that pays /hr, which is great, but I won’t have the chance to meet new people or make new friends, aside from the high school students who I will be tutoring alone in their homes. So, I’m thinking of getting another job in addition to the SAT job where I can meet more people my age. Where should I work? Starbucks? My concern is I have a degree and shouldn’t settle for minimum wage. Or maybe I should for the purpose of meeting people? Or maybe at a restaurant where I can earn tips? Any suggestions? I live in San Jose, California. Thanks :)

Answer by Thomas M
Starbucks pays well over minimum wage, for one thing. You won’t be rich working there, but probably you’d get about /hr.

You shouldn’t consider that some type of work is beneath you just because you have a degree, especially if the only thing that you don’t like is the money. Since this is a temporary thing to supplement your income, and which you’re going to do for social reasons, the money shouldn’t even matter at all.

You could also consider temping or getting into some kind of volunteer work as ways to meet people.

Where can my daughter get college money?

Question by manthisaddressislong: Where can my daughter get college money?
My daughter is 18 and she is starting at the University of Washington this month, but her mom and I have been going through a nasty divorce for a couple of years and as a result, we are both broke, the house is tied up in red tape, and we have no money to go towards college. My ex works for microsoft and makes enough money to exclude my daughter from many grants, etc. I have been struggling for the last couple of years and have been unemployed for much of it, but she lived with her mom most of that time. Our credit is toast for several reasons (had theft identity, the divorce, etc.) and that excludes us from many of the remaining funding sources. My daughter officially moved out and lives 100 miles away now near school. She has just started her own credit and is very responsible, but at ,000.00 a year, she has been unable to get funding to cover all of it. What can we do? She has worked really hard to get accepted to the UW and it is not fair that this could end it all.

Q&A: why do they force you to take core classes in college?

Question by James: why do they force you to take core classes in college?
you take your core classes in highschool basically for 4 years, than you start college and it’s another two years of core their two. What a waste of time and money, college it should be automatic for basic degrees you can start the program. Why repeat the same classes you already took prior in highschool I don’t get it? They just want your money, I just want to get on with the program I have to do the same basic classes I ALREADY did in High school, so basically 6 year of cores? That sounds ridiculous don’t it?

How did you get money for a nose job?

Question by charming_imogen: How did you get money for a nose job?
Insurance? Saved money? College tuition? Loan?

Im trying to figure out a way to obtain enough money for a nose job to fix my nose deformity. (saddle nose) and I really curious but how others do it…
“get a job!” I have a job. Im only 19, I own a house, I got bills to pay and college to pay for as well, so it’s not like I got piles of money just laying around waiting to be used on cosmetic surgery.
Can somebody who ACTUALLY got a nose job answer my question instead?

Graduated from College…Found job but…Need Help!!!?

Question by anonymous: Graduated from College…Found job but…Need Help!!!?
Alright people,

Basically I recently graduated from college with a degree in marketing from a top ten business school. The thing is I always wanted to do something along the lines of the medical field. However, I knew that academically I was not smart enough after trying a semester of science classes and the life. I finally decided on business because I’m one of those people that likes money and I was naturally good at business because I always read up on articles about it and liked keeping up with the current events. After graduation, I found a job right away but it’s only as a retail store manager. The pay is about ,000 and I only accepted the job because it was the only offer I received and they only take 16 people across all the college campuses per year. The thing is, I have already worked retail for more than 5 years and I haven’t really enjoyed it although I can do the work. I want to do more than just make a profit for a corporation and worry about job security. I also want to work a normal job from 9-5 with weekends off and work for a company that makes products like medical devices that actually help out the world. How can I switch out of the retail sector into the medical career field before it’s too late without experience and make lots of money?

Please Help!

Best answer:

Answer by qbsakk
all I can say is bioengineering and biomedical engineering.

See if you can get a masters in one of these and that should prepare you to work in a medical device company
