Question by Angie: No Luck Finding a Job—What to do?!?
I have a Master’s degree and lots of experience in education. Unfortunately, I am applying everywhere and having no luck (not even calls in for an interview). These are jobs at high schools, colleges, tutoring centers, etc. I am at my wits end and extremely desperate for work. I’ve been doing this for months.

I’m living in poverty and almost homeless. I have no health insurance and have crazy student loans that I need to pay off for my degrees that now seem useless.

I need a job NOW!

There were a couple of administrative jobs that called me, only to tell me that I’m overqualified and they were hesistant to hire me (and they didn’t).

I feel my only options now are to apply for receptionist, food serving positions, or temp agencies. Should I leave my college degrees off my resume? Will I have a better chance of landing a job?

You can look for jobs at non-profits geared towards education.
If you want to work in a school system, you need to pass your state’s teacher certification exam. Most states won’t hire you as a full time teacher with benefits unless you are certified with the state you are living in. Don’t omit your education off of your resume that would be a big blunder.
What about applying for corporate training jobs? How many years of experience in education do you have? Have you had someone revise your resume?
Do you have more than 50% of the requirements for the jobs you are applying for?
Have you highlighted your knowledge, skills, and accomplishments in a way that shows how your past employers benefited?
