You need something job-specific. A general liberal arts degree isn’t worth much, it just shows that you’ve been through post-secondary education (and therefore are more employable than someone without a degree). Same for a general math degree. A math degree is only good if you continue it into another employment area. For example, you could get a BSc in math, then do teacher’s college to be a primary or secondary school math teacher. Or, you could do a BSc in math and then do a Masters in physics, or computer science for example. Or, do an Associate in math and then transfer to a college/university and do a BSc in com sci/physics/whatever.

Definitely. If you like math you should pursue it. It’s not your dad’s life so really he should back off (and I mean that with the utmost respect lol). Maybe get a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Banking or something Business-related dealing with math. You can’t really do much with an Associate’s degree, but an Associate’s in Liberal Arts was the way to go if you wanted flexibility in choosing different bachelor degree programs.
With all honesty, I think all parents are equipped to saying, “What would you do with a so-and-so degree?” Mainly because it’s true. There’s a lot of majors out there that are useless. Math is not one of them. There are lots of careers out there that deal with math on a regular basis. Even if it’s not something directly related to “math-only” it’s still a vital asset to have (math skills that is).
You’ll find something. It just takes a little research-on your part.
