Mac Book Pro 15′ or Dell Inspiron for student going into college for Graphic Design?

Student Discounts
I’m going to Pratt this fall as a freshman for graphic design and I need to know which computer would be best in the long run for me. I really cannot afford even the refurbished mac with the student discounts, yet from what I hear, graphic design is much, much, better on a mac. So what would be better, a Dell for half the price, or the Mac? I need the computer that will work best for me throughout college, and which is also better with graphics and design programs.

There are NO PROs for a Dell computer, they just plain SUK. Here we go: Macs are easy and now you can get a Dual Processor that does Windows also. No other computer can make that statement. A MacBook 2.4, 4 Gigs Ram will do the trick for you. Lightweight and is a Heavyweight in performance. With Apple Stores usually close by it’s easy way to get your computer fixed if it’s a minor problem. They usually do right on the spot. With Dell in particular you have to send it to them [at your cost] and wait for at least 2 weeks to get it back. Almost no one will work on a Dell so Dell’s got you. If you take the time to check Dell’s website everyday you will see the same model computer configured slightly different and with a different price. Deceptive to say the least. Hope this helps you make a decision no matter which computer you buy.

Here’s why you should get a Mac:: There are NO CONS. The MacBook does both WinBloze and OSX, no other computer can make that statement. You have the best of the best. Apple Stores are popping up all over and you can make an appointment for a time and date, bring your computer there. They will troubleshoot it and fix it if it’s a software problem it’s FREE. What other computer company has stores and can make that statement? Get the 2.4 GHz with 4Gigs Ram and you got a speed machine like mine. The WinBloze people may not like a Mac computer but I’ll bet they all have iPods. Go Mac and Never Go Back. Mac, the User Friendly Computer.
If you read the questions here you will notice that most problems are about every computer except a Mac.

It’s honestly not better on a Mac. Photoshop on Windows is the same exact Photoshop on Mac. No differences at all, Macs and graphic design is like a fad which is why so many designers have them, but the productivity is the same…especially since Windows 7 is coming out in October which is a great OS.

Id go with the dell insporion…With all the money your gonna save without the macbook you could set yourself up with a very good college laptop…And more battery opitions up to a 9cell or something for unending use…Mac Books are just too much money if you really want a bang for your buck…Even though the macbook might look cool and sharp…imagine how much money your gonna save to set you up with a good system…
Also here are some good coupons sites:

I do a lot of graphic design & have both but I seem to use my PC more.
I bought a Mac a few years ago specifically because I was going to an art design college but every time an assignment for design came up, I always used my PC and it always turned out better and my Mac had the best of everything (it cost a fortune). I’m not saying I don’t like Macs because I do, I’m just saying that I don’t think it really makes a difference which system you use for graphic design. If your budget is limited, I would definitely go for a PC or you can get more bang for your buck!
You can always try them out. I believe the Apple store lets you play with their computers in the store.
Or you could always try and win a Macbook like I am… LOL I got an iPhone and started using the Mac for that.
there is a pretty cool offer for winning one here:
