Is This A Good Topic To Choose For A College Admission Essay?

For my college admissions essay, I have chosen to write about a volunteer experience that I had. I’m thinking about going into detail about the actual experience, and then explaining how the experience effected me as a person.
Is this a good topic?

It is if it’s unique and insightful. Generally, if it’s not a particularly unique volunteer experience, the essay will probably bore the admissions staff…but if it’s something that truly had a huge, significant impact on you and really affected your life, go ahead and write about it.
