Is there money for college for low income families?
Question by Angel: Is there money for college for low income families?
Currently my husband is the only one working. We live with my parents and we have 3 children. I already started college about 3 years ago and dropped out. Now I owe a Direct Loan. I don’t have the money to pay it right now and I don’t have the money for college. So does anyone know if there is some kind of grant for low income families to would at least get me started? I live in North Georgia. Or possibly even pay the owed amount. It’s about $ 1,500.00

Absolutely.
There are dozens of grants and scholarships available for low income individuals and, especially, families.
If you know which college you would like to attend, you should make an appointment to sit down with their financial aid officer and discuss the options you have for financial aid.
These officers will also assist you in filling out any FAFSA paperwork that you need to complete. I would highly recommend having them help you do this if you have never completed a FAFSA form before, as they are lengthy and can be confusing.

It sounds like you would qualify for the Earned Income Credit when you and hubby do the taxes for 2008. The refund you get from that will prob more than pay off that loan.
