Apple has discounts of 5-15% for various groups (teachers, military etc). I think you’re correct that the student one is 10%.
If you buy just before back to school, they often have free iPod and / or printer deals with the MacBook.
This applies to anyone with a valid student ID
Looks like the free iPod touch deal is on now

Go to the apple store online, then drill down into their academic page off the MacBook pages.

you can go on the website and enter your school to see what the total discount is.

The free iPod is for all Macs except Mac Mini. Beware of getting rejected for the $229 rebate for the iPod because you bought a mini. I recently went to the Apple store and bought a Mini and I didn’t have to show any proof of being a student.
P.S. – Wish I could afford the iMac. I could be using an iPod touch right now T_T

As long as you’re a student, you’ll get 10% off. They might have an iPod Touch deal too where you pay for it now, and get a mail-in rebate.

its not 10% its $100-200 dollars and its for college students. they checked my college id when I bought a new one last week. high school students can just get a free ipod.
