Question by beyah: Is it hard to find an Electrical Engineering job straight out of college?
I’m looking into going into EE this coming fall, and Ive been looking into it. Ive been looking at jobs to see how they are doing in the hard economy, and most of them say you need at least 5 years experience. How would you go about getting a job straight out of college? Also, I heard some people on a forum saying how EE was a dying field, is this true? Thanks

Good question but u did not mention your location.
I am from gulf and as fresh graduate I had so many golden opportunities as Electrical Engineer, I started as a trainee , working abroad in UK ( PB Power – Consultant ) and then i came back to continue my training in Telecommunication Company in power department.
After that I joined Ministry of electrical and water as Engineer and I have visited many sites such as Power Satiation , Substation maintenance department , U/G cables and transmission lines maintenance department and Control Centre.
Finally I got a better offer with one of the leading oil company as Electrical Design Engineer in Projects Department and currently I am involved in a huge project ( revamping job of obsolete Instruments ). Our discipline covers many major equipments such that:
1)High Switch gear / low switchgear.
2)DG set ( Generators )
3)Transformers
4) UPS System ( Uninterrupted Power Supply)
5)HV Cables
And then other systems :
1)Lighting
2)Grounding / lightening
3)Fire Alarm System
I am mentioning those systems because I have seen them everywhere , telecommunication companies , Power Plants, Oil Companies , Factories ,,,,etc .
And above those Electrical World is in everywhere coz u can work in the manufacturer himself ( Vendor), and it’s a great experience coz u can specialize in one equipment ( HV Switchgears , UPS , Transformers ,,,,,etc)
U can work as Designer , Sales , Procurement , Construction….
IT IS A BIG WORLD.. and everything in our life starts with our power.. Electricity
Good luck
