Question by james w: Is it good that the government provides money for college education?
If you read the artical on yahoo, it states that people who have a degree average 23,000 a year more then someone who just just has a high school diploma. In return, the government gets more in taxes because the person is making more $. If that’s the case, then why do people complain about government providing money for college students for tuition?

I think it is great that some governments spend money on higher education for their citizens (having received some in the United States) but since not everyone wants a higher education I guess some people feel the tax money should go to grades K-12 or other issues besides Education that they might benefit from more directly. Additionally, people in the modern times are very selfish and want direct benefit which is not something many people get from governments giving money to select college attendees. They also complain about money being spent on disability needs, healthcare, law enforcement, etc. If people really have an issue with it, they need to vote or write their congress person and express their opinion. I have done that and they do respond.
In a nutshell, I have no idea why making our country more educated is such an issue but I chalk it up to greed and a “me” attitude.
