Is It Common To Have Difficulty In Finding A Job After College?

With a degree in finance (graduated from the University of Kansas). It’s only been a couple weeks since I graduated, but no luck yet.

What you didn’t go to the JOB FAIRS, most employers have 6 months of prescreened job applications, recommended hires, and those waiting for an opening. WOW, they are not going to be falling at your feet–and with the end of the year, FEO’s on vacation, and just trying to get past inventory—give yourself 6 months. Did you take any apprenticeships during your schooling?. You may have to get creative in the job that you are looking for— most graduates never get a position in the feild that they have their degree in. look at it this way–every year more students graduate with a Jurnalism degree then there has ever been jurnalists

have you tried applying to be a financial advisor? those firms always seem to be recruiting at my school (especially ameriprise)
in any event, a couple of weeks is normal. if you find yourself waiting for a couple of months, try widening your search to other business functions besides finance.
and don’t forget to make use of your school’s career resources. it’s their job to help you get a job.

Apart from major job websites like Monster, Hotjobs, Careerbuilder and Craigslist where you could apply for jobs and upload your resume ,you could also search for jobs using aggregators like Simply Hired and Indeed. Check this out for more information http://tinyurl.com/emdyn

work on your resume and make it an excellent one to get job, which suits your interest. You should take the help of consultant to make an attractive resume. Then You should submit your resume to leading jobsite like http://www.monster.com, http://www.careerbuilder.com. Also you should consult local placement consultant in your area. In the meantime, look out for an option to work online. Although it wont pay you like full time job but you can make extra cash in your spare time.
