Is It Better To Have Community Service Or Work Experience (i.e. Tutoring) On Your College Application?

College Jobs
Either should work, colleges just want to see that you did something with your time besides go to school.

Community service – when you get out of college you may have some really good contacts to get a great job because you had helped them out before and with Local Government they will remember you and Government jobs usually have great benefits/retirement packages
you may get lucky and work where you live.

Some colleges view community service more important than work experience so I would look up the colleges that interest you on collegeboard.com and see if there’s any difference.
