Is Anyone Else Having Trouble Finding A Job Right Out Of College?

Yes….ME! ![]()
I am an Engineer with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Chemistry.
The thing is I can’t find anyone who would need to employ me, or if they do they would like me to have 3-7 years experience.
So, I decided to start working on a high-school graduate position that would offer me chances to develop a career later…..as a manager (not as an Engineer).

OMG yes, I did!!! I had NO work experience what so ever, so that just made it harder for me. It took me 4 months to find a job, but its not permanent.. i’m an intern. Another girl i knew it took her 5 or 6 months. I actually did get an interview (it was through one of those agencies) but I didn’t get picked.. but i finally got one. I thought i was the only one having a hard time too but it was alot of people that had the same problem

Yup…
I’m into journalism and radiobroadcasting… it takes MONTHS to go through the hiring process!!! And that is when there IS a RARE opening!!! I had a awesome job, but got homesick so quit….
And I have no experience doing stuff like waiting tables…. so no one wants to hire me for that….
So I’m still working on campus…

my college had a group dedicated to collecting info from potential employers and assisting us in getting interviews, etc.
check to see if your alma mater has similar facilities. check with the alumni department.

I knew that would be a problem, so I started looking the semester before I graduated. Everyone says that they’re looking for people with education and experience (both of which I have plenty of); but when it comes down to it, no matter how much of each you have, all that seems to matter is if they like you and if you’ll work hard at kissing butt and “fitting in”. Life seems to be one big rerun of a high school. (Now I see why a lot of idiots don’t want to let go of their high school lives.)
