If I want to become a social worker, would the school I went to to earn an MSW matter in finding a job?

Does anyone know if going to a high ranking school matter in becoming a social worker? I want to earn an MSW but don’t know if going to an expensive yet prominent school is really that important in finding a job. If I went to a cheap, not so well known college, would I be just as desirable to hire? Thanks!

No it does not make difference. It may for your first job but Social workers are in demand so once you find a job and get some experience it does not make a difference.
I will give you one example in Cleveland there are to schools with MSW programs. Cleveland State and Case Western.
Case is a private top notch school and very expensive CSW is public and cheaper. i know in Northeast Ohio the consensus is that CSU students are trained better and are better workers. I have had supervisors say they would choose a CSU student over a Case student any day.
Now if you leave North east Ohio and have no experience then the case student will get the job first because the school has reconistion . So locally it is known that this big private school is doing a crummy job training SW but not nation wide.
