Depends on where you live. I would say the best schools will be California Institute of Technology and MIT. Cal Poly is supposed to be good and has a good location to be good too. You also have excellent computer science programs at most major research universities like Notre Dame, Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida State, Texas, UCLA, USC…so it really depends on where you live and probably on what your goals are. Do some internet research to help you out too.

According to the US News ratings, the top 4 are:
1 – MIT
2 – Stanford
3 – Carnegie Mellon
4 – UC Berkeley
But there are lots more good CompE programs, and any number of them might be more suited to you than those. Besides, those programs have thousands of applicants, and cost an arm and a leg. So unless you’ve got near perfect grades and SAT/ACT scores, and lots of money or scholarships, you’ll probably be better off applying to other schools. My best advice is to check out a college guide like Petersons, research schools with CompE programs, and visit a few campuses that interest you.
