How much should I charge for violin tutoring?
Hey! I’m 16 and I’m starting violin tutoring for kids who are in 5th grade-middle school, but I cant decide how much I should charge for a half hour lesson. My tutor is in college and she charges $20. There are a couple of other kids in my high school orchestra that charge $10, but they are not as advanced as me (not to gloat but they aren’t as serious about violin as I am) they just tutor them on the music the kids get in their orchestra. However, I am actually going to be teaching music from suzuki books (not the method…just the music) because this is what my tutor did for me when I started with her in 6th grade. So I think since I’m young $20 is too much but I dont really want to go down to 10 because I’m actually teaching so I feel like I deserve more. So I wanted to charge $15 but do you think that is too random of a number since its the middle? Or should I just go down to 10 like the others. Maybe I’m just being greedy.
So far I have one student lol but I’m hoping my orchestra teacher will find a couple beginners that want lessons because I really want to teach how to read the music and hold their violin correctly.
But yea anyways what do you think? $15? $10? What would you be willing to pay?

$15 is alright, really. It’s right between the middle and it’s affordable.
,My friend gives violin lessons for $15 also.

I do this. It’s really fun. I charge $16 an hour so $8 a half hour session.
If you do this, I would suggest sitting in on some lessons so you can learn teaching techniques.
