How hard is it for an american citizen to move to the United Kingdom, find a job, and a place to live?

College Jobs
I basically just want someone to tell me how I can move from the United States, as a 23 year old with a Masters degree from an accredited college, find a job as well as a place to live, just to help me get on my feet. Is this a realistic goal?

To move to the UK to work, you have 3 options
1. Get a company to sponsor your Work Permit
2. Apply for a Working Holiday Makers Visa
3. Apply for a Tier 1 General Visa
The problem with the first one is that, Your would be employer would need to complete a lot of legal formalities, if he were to sponsor a WP for a Non-EU/Non-UK citizen. Most employers hesitate to sponsor a WP because of this reason.
The problem with the second option is that, you can work only for a maximum period of 12 months out of the 24 months for which you will be granted visa and you will need to show that work in not your primary reason to go to the UK.
Hence, your best option would be to apply for the UK Tier 1 Visa. You can either do it by yourself or go to some consultants who do it real cheap. You could try http://www.tier1visashop.com for instance.
