I’m in college now and i need a job, but during my high school years i never worked or did any community service. So i have nothing to write on my resume. How does one in a situation like myself find a job?

Alot of jobs, i’m guessing you are looking for more of the typical part-time college job types, will hire you without previous experience. They’ll base alot of your hiring on the personal interview. Even if you don’t have a resume, places like restaurants, gyms, coffeehouses, retail establishments…will hire you without a resume. They have applications of their own that you will probably fill out.
On top of it, while you are there, ask to speak to the manager. this is your chance to make a good first impression, instead of just filling out an application and having them never call because of your lack of experience. If you meet the manager, or person who is hiring, you have a better chance of them liking you and remembering your name.
Just seem eager, willing to train and learn their way of business! That’s how I pulled my first two jobs in college. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t hear back from some, just stop into local establishments, ask if they need any help. Apply, Apply, Apply! In addition, look through the local newspapers for people looking to hire.
I’m sure it’ll work out fine. Good luck!

Hi Keong!
Employers and the university understand that someone of your age and in your situation may not have a work history to report.
If you can, try to get some volunteer experience. If you don’t have time for that, then think of the kind of job that you think you can do and just apply for it. Start at the bottom. Many employers, such as fast foods, cafes, and other businesses, take high school and college youth and train them, often without a resume.
If you use a resume, state your work objective, list any interests, hobbies, and courses that might be related to the job. Make a good first impression. If you can, show them that you’re enthusiastic, customer oriented, and can learn new things.
Apply to lots of different jobs. You’ll hear back from some, and not from others. Don’t be discouraged. You’ll eventually find a job.
One other possibility is to go to your college’s financial assistance office and consider work-study opportunities on campus. This will give you work experience, while working on campus.
Good luck!

Apply everywhere, even places that you absolutely do not want to work at (like McDonald’s). Sometimes it’s easier to get a job when you already have a job that you hate. You need money, so you can always upgrade your part-time job later.
On your resume put that you’re pursuing a degree and list some of the skills related to that degree. Also put skills/traits that you think will help with your part-time job ie. able to persevere through countless hours of mindless work and boredom for the pay. You can even mention that you’re needing this job to continue your education either on your resume or in your interview.
You can also lie and say you worked somewhere you didn’t in some other city 3 or 4 years ago.
