How can I learn about my learning style and the best learning environment so that I can choose a college?

College Selection
Have you ever come across anything that has helped you in this regard? Any suggested books to read? I want something to help me decide whether I should go to a big research university or a small school.

Learning style is an old outdated idea which did not prove out in research. Your best predictor of how you will do in college is how you did in high school and your exit exam (SAT and ACT). There are many many factors that go into making a college decision, such as cost, location, field of study, and whether you will be admitted. Learning style is not the answer.

I went back to college in my late 20’s where I met a student who told me this “…the difference between an A student and a C student is the amount of time they spend studying”. I thought long and hard over this statement and realized he was right. Sure there are some students who never have to study but those individuals are rare. So when I was deciding what school I wanted to attend, I considered what I wanted from the degree. What kind of career and money did I want to make. When I answered these two questions I selected a college that has name recognition. This is essentially what you pay for and I wanted a job in a large corporation where I could make good money. You can apply your learning style to any environment by staying true to you. Good Luck!
