I have been selected for jury service but im in college (at home) but when iav to got that week ill be starting new classes. Im doing a foundation degree and i really cant afford to miss classes as im finding it hard enough.
Would my tutor be able to get me out of it it or how else could i?
i live in NI.

Call the office that issued the juror summons – usually the clerk’s office. Explain that you are a student and cannot afford to miss classes. Ask to be excused from jury duty, and if they agree, ask if they could confirm it in writing. You may also offer to be put back into the juror pool in the summer, or the next time you are home/classes are not in session.

You contact the court…there should be a phone number on the summons, if not, the court itself will be on it. Call and speak to the Clerk, and advise her that you’re a full time student, and can’t miss class. They may want you to fax or bring in to them your schedule, to prove your call, but that shouldn’t be a problem. They’ll excuse you.
