Question by lalalalalallaalala: How can a 16 year old raise money for college by herself?
I am too involved with school activities fora normal job so i was thinking about like fundraisers where i can just go around my neighborhood and sell stuff. One where i don’t have to pay for anything. I get a catalog and order forms in the mail I collect the money and I get like 50% of the profit.

That sounds like a job to me, only you won’t make much money. You can start applying for grants and scholarships as young as 13. I would start there.

you’d have to invest your own money for catalogs and order forms, etc. smartest thing is to get a job and to apply for scholarships your senior year in high school.

Hi
I think you have first to find out what potential you have, You may have some abilities you can utilize it.
Then you have to find you what is the work in which you can enjoy too. The benefit of such a work is that you will never feel tired and hesitated. It may becomes you hobby. for example. most girl may be interested working in beauty paler. they never feel tired because this is interesting for them.
It is just an example. And some boys are interested in internet so a this boy if work in net cafe he can enjoy it too and makes money too.
If you choose such a work I think it will be an alternative of a hobby. hobby means using extra time in such activity where a person can enjoy.
I think you must know what is your hobby, then do that work it may not disturb you studies….. because it is you hobby………..
Thanks

If you can find time to go around trying to sell catalog merchandise, I would think you could find a more profitable job that is more reliable. If you don’t want to commit to a specific schedule, a great place to start is with family members and adult friends or neighbors — tell them honestly that you want to earn money for college and offer up any type of service that you could provide during your free time. Offer to do yard work, help troubleshoot computer problems, cook them a meal, clean their house, or any other skill you have that could help them. Friends and family will appreciate your efforts and would likely pay you a decent amount since they know they are helping you for college.
I would like to stress that scholarships and grants are great ways to help pay for college. In fact, so much so that it may behoove you to concentrate on getting the best grades you can in lieu of working a job because an academic scholarship can far exceed how much you could earn on your own time.
To find out more about scholarships and grants, visit the career center at your current high school and see if they can get you started (ask the high school counselor if you don’t have a specific career center). If you are involved in so many activities, they are a great place to start looking for scholarships – academic, music, sports scholarships are all available. Also, if you apply for a “Free Application for Federal Student Aid” (FAFSA) and enter in the schools that you are interested in attending, the colleges may specifically contact you to offer financial aid.

Work full time during the summer. Our babysitter is now in her junior year at college and does not work during the school year. For the 12-15 weeks for summer break, she works 40 hours a week babysitting/nannying at $ 10-$ 15/hr (depending on # of kids and ages) and started at 16. Granted, she saves it all, lives at home and goes to an in-state university which is cheaper than an out of state or private school, but I give her credit, she will graduate without
debt and on time.
