Question by PRINTS: Horse, equine, getting money for college?
My daughter is going to be studying the business of horses. She is an excellent rider, trains, has broken out and trained horses. She was in the top ten of her high school class, but due to not gaining an excellent score on ACT, she did not get close to engought $$ for the school she wants to attend. She continues to train at a local barn, as well as apprenticing with a well-reputed trainer. Having the studies and credentials for her future is important to her, as she cannot say that training is all she will choose to pursue in the horse industry. Can anyone point her to any $$ in the horse business that can help her in her equine studies? She is and excellent student and wishes to continue her formal education, as well as study the equine business, etc. We are aware of websites for collecting scholarships, but would like a little more specific information, if anyone has had any experience with this. The college she wants to attend is a private college in West Virginia.
She is already apprenticing, has been paid a small commission for selling 3 horses this year, 2 she personally broke out. She may want to see the business side of the eq. industry. She is 19. With the eq. industry growing, I see lots of poss. for the business, besides purely training. She has high academic goals, and also studies Spanish.
She has a really good idea where she wants to go — it’s expensive. Has the responder seen what Bethany charges?

I would actually check into other grants and loans and I wonder if theres a forum on that, that might help you.

Other than working at a barn to save up money, which wouldn’t be near what she needs for school, thats my best guess for you.

Good luck to your daughter….
