Help Choosing An Engineering College?
I am applying to colleges this fall. However, I do want to know if my choices are any good so far.
heres my SAT:
Math: 640
Critical reading: 640
Writing: 690
my overall gpa is about a 3.75.
I’ve also done an Internship at Georgia Tech, had a good amount of community service (about 2 – 5 hrs. per month), taken AP courses in science, math, computer, and history, been involved in athletics at my high school for all four high school years, as well as been a part of a few clubs.
My choices so far are:
1) Georgia tech
2) Illinois Urbana
3) Purdue
4) Virginia Tech
Id like to apply to a high ranking school, but at the same time, need to make sure I’m not getting in over my head. Please help me decide if these choices are reasonable or if you have any other college ideas. Thanks.

All of your choices are really good engineering colleges. Your SAT score is really good as well, and your GPA isn’t bad. You seem to prepared yourself by taking AP courses in the right concentrations. Now what you need to do is see what the average incoming freshmen SAT scores (or range) for all of the schools just to make sure that you would be considered. Also, if you have an idea of what discipline of engineering you want to persue, look into which school has a good program in that major. One school may not be better than the other in that major. The schools rated as a “good” engineering school are usually judged by the overall program, that’s why it’s important to find the school that has a good program in what you want to do. Once you decide, it’s up to whether or not you’re accepted and if you can afford it. Good luck!
