Georgia: Help choosing college with just G.E.D.community and or private univercity?
Hi, I am 30 and seeking as much info as possible. i am clueless about school I drop-ed out of high school and working on my G.E.D. Also my Gf is trying to go back to school as well we are both unemployed and have no clue about grants/financial aid and the only school we have spoken too is Devry University. Now they seem great all of this and that but i am concerned with reputation and cost. I have done a little research on my own and seems average yearly cost is around 14,500 a year now that seems like it would be a huge burdon if we both went and graduated after 4 years of school we would be in debt about 116,000 bucks without a leg to stand on ..What I’m getting at is, are there better schools we should be looking into and would they accept me without having SAT or Act scores and I haven’t been in school in years i feel id fail those miserably. Now she has a high school diploma from continental academy. We would both like to get into school A.S.A.P . We cannot afford to waist any time please help
any feedback would be greatly appreciated
also is there ways i can find a cheaper school than devry get just as good of a degree and get help paying for off campus housing

Don’t go to Devry.
This is a private “For Profit” school who’s only purpose is to take as much of your money as possible. Find a local community college and attend there for 2 years and earn your associates degree. then you can transfer to a 4 year college and finish up your bachelors degree in only 2 years. Depending on what part of the country you live, you can usually attend a community college for less than 1,500 a semester. Or about 3,000 a year or less… def not 14,500!!!
Devry isn’t a real college and trains folks to be low paid office help. It preys on folks who don’t have a hs diploma or GED and don’t know any better. (that they can get an education 10 times less down the road).
You and the GF can apply for financial aid at http://fafsa.ed.gov
and search for schools here: http://nces.ed.gov/globallocator/
