English writing tutor rate in NYC?
Question Details:
I’m a college student who got an offer to tutor two girls – 4th grader& 6th grader.
I will be tutoring 2 hours for each girl for 3 days a week so the total hours will be 12 hours. It means 6 hours for each one in a weekly basis.
Their parents asked me how much I would charge, so I said about $90 a day but they said it sound too much.
What is a fair rate to charge them?
It is about an hour ride to get to their place.
And I had experiences tutoring English before.

i`m an english tutor with 4 years experience teaching english as a 2nd language in brazil…now i am back in the u.s. tutoring…i charge anywhere from $25-$40 per hour…your quote may be a little high, but u have to figure in your transportation to get to the girls` home…as the girls are in the same family (i think), i would take that into consideration…i usually give some kind of special rate for family members, especially if they study together…to be honest, i wouldn`t charge less than $60 a day, because that isn`t even $15/hour when u figure in your transportation…
