Do I have a better chance of getting into college undeclared, or declared a major?

I’m contemplating to go undeclared or actually choose marine biology as a major of choice. I heard its easier to get into college if the specific major is an unpopular one.
So, my question is, is marine biology a major unpopular enough where I’ll have a better chance of getting into college by choosing that major rather than going “undeclared”?

If you want to get into a school with a low exceptance rate (i.e. 30% or lower) you’d better let the admissions counselor know that you are prepared to study hard and that you have chosen a field of study. Even if you are undecided, just put something down on that application anyway. You can always change your plan of study before your junior year before you start taking courses in your major.

I truly doubt it matters. Why? Because the vast majority of people CHANGE their major, and we all go through an average of 5 or 6 jobs in our life. In the end, what was on our diploma really won’t matter. What will matter is that you took an even amount of classes in all subjects.
So, honestly, it probably won’t affect you.
