Do car insurance companies verify if you are a student, when receiving a discount?

I am interested in getting my own car insurance, as i have been on my father’s plan for about a year. I was able to find liability coverage with progressive for about 39.00 a month which is great for me, however I am wondering whenever they ask you if you are a college student and if you have a certain GPA, do they have a way of verifying this information. Also, when they ask you how long you have had your license, can they verify this as well, as I have not had my license for very long. Thanks

the reason its cheap is because you are going to have to be in the car with licensed driver/goes up when full license is aquired/dont get off moms until they make you/they check drivers license record

Yes they can verify your license.
They get a copy of your motor vehicle record. It will confirm how long you have had your license and any accidents/tickets.
They confirm you status as a student and your grades by having you provide them with your report card.

Yes, they can verify it. Even if they don’t verify when you sign up, I can guarantee you they’ll verify it if you have an accident. They love it when you lie to them, because it gives them a very convenient excuse to refuse to pay (and defeats the entire point of insurance for you).

You are getting a very good deal my friend, get it. as far as a student discount yes they have to verify the details, but not for the years driven. Since you’re getting a 39 a month deal, I honestly don’t think being a student will effect that rate.
