I personally would suggest to wait until you go to the first year of college.

First, you will be applicable to all student discounts.

Second, and which is more important since you going to college in aerospace engineering, I would say you will need a laptop with high specification ( Since I am not a student of the field I cant answer what requirement should it have ).

If you wait until you are in university, I guess you will be able to say what laptop will help you more.

I suggest getting a new especially if you don't like your current one. Your going to be using it a lot and if you don't like it then your not going to want to. And you definitely don't want your battery to be constantly failing and having to recharge. Anything bulky isn't good either cause you'll be having to carry it all around campus to your classes.

Talk (or have her talk) to her financial aid office. Right now, those of us in higher education all realize that things have gotten tight for a lot of our students and their families. We are doing everything possible to ensure that continuing students can finish their educations. A graduating senior would take definite priority.

Tell your daughter to fill out a fasfa form from the financal aid office and see if she can get a student loan under her name which doesnt require credit just a good standing in school. she can pay it back after she graduate, payments like 50 dollars a month and she could get a in school deferment which means as long as she stays in school, no mater what kind of school she doesnt have to pay on the loan. She can also apply for a credit card with american express with no credit and get approve. no age restrictions. go to fasfa.gov and call her finanical aid officer and expalin to her your situation she will help.

Possibilities:
-Anthropology
-International relations
-Communications

Other degrees that might be in line with your interests are psychology and marketing, but if you don't like science or math, you'll definitely run into some math/science with these majors.

(Also, if you're looking at NYC, plan to get a roommate or two when you first start out in your career, and try not to get into too much debt in college.)

You should be a Public Relations major. It is a great general sort of degree. You can do alot of things with it. Great thing is...your Italian and passion for the languages would be a great supplement to you getting a job in the PR field.
