Choosing A College Based Of Music…..?
I’m in the process of looking for a college. One of the biggest factors that will play into my decision is how music oriented the town/city is. I want to live in a place that has a lot of artists arising out of it and a lot of indie artists trying to get their names out there.
I want to go into a field that has music. Weather I get to be the guitarist or the producer, I just want the rest of my life to have music in it.
So i’m looking for a town/city in the US that is very music oriented. I’ve looked on Google, but everyone knows that that doesn’t compare to someone’s opinion. Help?
I don’t need specific colleges, i’m looking for city names.

Towns that have very strong music scenes, where there are lots of artists and etc., include: Nashville, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, Seattle, New York City, Miami, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Austin (TX), Denver, Omaha, Athens (GA), Amherst/Northampton (MA), San Francisco, Providence (RI), Minneapolis, Atlanta, and Memphis.
Some scenes are focused on specific styles, others are much broader. Some are huge, some are smaller but very active. Some focus more on live shows, others are a mix of live and the recorded music industry. You’d want to look at each scene and see which one suits your style best.
Every one of those towns has colleges in it, so you’re in luck in that respect.

Personally I think you are going about this the wrong way.
You need to see what the college can offer, not the town. Sorry but once you are in college, your friends, classes, professors, the music department is what you and your time is going to wrapped up in.
Music is one demanding major. You will be taking 15/18 credits per semester plus rehearsal time for any performances, band etc. You are not going to have time to go hang out in the town. First make sure the college and it’s music department can give you the education you want and need, then worry about where it is at.

Many small cities will have music, but usually big cities like Ney York City, LA, and Chicago have a lot of that.
