Are you finding the job market really tough right now?

College Jobs
I have a job but it’s time for me to move on. I make $14.50/hr. I see jobs that pay $8-$9/hr and then jobs that require a college degree but nothing in the middle. I would even take a pay cut but $9 is a pay “rape” so….I feel stuck!

Yes, I absolutely feel your pain! I’ve been out of a job for a couple months now and I’m starting to apply to retail because I can’t find anything. I used to make pretty good money at my last job but it was only temporary and I haven’t been able to find anything like that yet. So now I’ll have to do retail for awhile until I find something decent.

The job market is terrible right now, especially if you live in hard hit states such as Michigan or other manufacturing based states. Unemployment grew faster last month than it has in 17 years, so you should feel a bit luck to have the job you do. Keep looking for jobs, but do not quit until you have another job lined up. If you start at another company you will be at the bottom of the list and get laid off faster than other employees, whereas you may be a few rungs up at your current job.
