Are GPAs important in and after college?

I know that GPAs are important for getting into colleges. But are GPAs important after colleges to find jobs? Do employers really care about GPAs or do they care about the degrees? I have a 3.15 GPA and I am double majoring AND graduating on time. Should I worry about the GPA not being high or just be secure in the fact that it is above a 3 and I am achieving two BAs in 4 years? Any and all POLITE advice is appreciated.

GPA matters for getting into graduate schools. You can put a high GPA on your resume along with the number of times you made the Dean’s List or received any other honors. Many people omit their GPA from their resume. Employers usually look more at amount of education and experience and how well you interview.

If you’re just looking for a job, your GPA probably won’t matter. On a resume, you usually will just put your college and your major. If you were graduating with honors, you might put that too.
If you plan on going into law or medical school, or are going for a graduate degree, your GPA will make a difference then. The schools that are admitting you will look at your GPA, test scores, and other factors to decide whether to admit you. A 3.15 GPA might be a little low if you wanted to get into some programs, but that can be overcome by other factors, like test scores, life experience, the fact that you did two degrees at once, etc.
However, employers generally will not even know what your GPA is. The fact that you have a degree (and double majored) is more important.

IN college, it can be, yes. Some academic awards of financial aid require maintaining a certain GPA while taking a certain number of credits. It’s also important if you want to apply to grad school. AFTER college, it’s not going to make much difference, at least as far as applying for a job, etc.
